I was there when Jamie took the pregnancy test. We hunched over her bathroom counter and watched it flash just waiting for the "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant" to pop up. I knew it was going to say "Pregnant"...she didn't believe it would.
When it did, Jamie's eyes got huge. She went and sat on the couch and said, "Wow...this is a BIG deal!" I'll never forget that. :)
And of course, I snapped a couple of pictures...
We started talking right away about pictures...obviously. We are photographers, that's what we do.
I had a vision and I knew that Jamie would go along with it. So I told her NOT to cut her hair and we agreed (her reluctantly) that we would brave the cold in February or March and do the images that I was visualizing in my mind...
We lucked out...the weather was GORGEOUS!
And Jamie is gorgeous and photographing a photographer who understands your vision...it's a dream.
When you have a picture in your head of what you hope an image will look like...or an idea of how you want a session to go and you can see it come to life before your eyes and see that picture, just as you imagined it, in print. AAAHHHHHH...it's like magic!
I don't think there are many more things in life that are as gorgeous as a mama to be...
The images captured just before someone's journey, someone's whole life is about to change...whether if be their maternity images, their birth images...it's like a picture of someone who is about to become something completely different.
This wife and mother of two will never be that again...soon she will be a wife and mother to three...she will know more love than she knew before. And I will get to be there to capture that moment, the very moment she meets her daughter for the first time, the moment she gets to experience love at first sight for the THIRD time in her life...each time just as special and life changing as the time before.
Jamie was right when she said it back on July 28th...
"Wow...this is a BIG deal"
It IS a big deal...and a huge privilege that I get to capture it all in photographs!
